Pull Em' Up

The American Idol phenomena is dated. Rumor has it that Simon Cowel is debating whether or not he will return next season to judge. Paula Abdul, Idol's ex-resident pill-popper has already left, while Randy Jackson has always lacked any entertainment quality aside from his occassional "dogs" and "maynes".

However, there is a light that shines in the form of Idol's initial auditions. Contestants such as Larry Plat have rekindled a stifled flame and sparked new interest in this season of Idol, even if it is in spite of Idol's actual purpose to find real talent. Do you even watch Idol after the auditions?

I do not.

Mariah oh Fiah

Well maybe not on "fire" but lit. A few weeks back Mariah showed her "merry" side while recieving an award for her performance on the Lee Daniel's directed movie, Precious (based on the novel Push by Saphire). So obviously inebriation isn't just for us normal folk, in fact: alcohol is for everyone.

After all, the wise Benjamin Franklin once said "Beer is living proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy." Regardless of the implications society places on us, I'm pretty damned sure the "us" even refers to the wonderful Mariah Carey.

Congratulations beyotch.

30 Rock, "Yummers"

Above is the character Jenna Maroney up to her dastardly diva-inspired deeds.

If you haven't watched the show, you have at least heard of 30 Rock through it's various accolades and achievements. NBC's latest attempt to [cease ratings suckage and] reclaim the crown of sitcomdom, 30 Rock is a stone groove. Interesting character development, and amazing actresses and actors make this television show fun to watch. So watch it.

Airs on NBC at 9:30 on Thursdays!
Catch it tomorrow! Do it! For reals!

PS. Chances are, if you don't get it's humor, you're not intelligent enough, and there is something very wrong with you and your "sense of humor".

RDJ - Golden Globes

Cori made me watch this, and it made me decide that when I grow up, I want to be like Robert Downey Jr. The man. Wins the award, has everyone cracking up at how freaking awesome he is, and then gets media attention for his humor - non-scripted mind you. What could get better than that?

Sugar Glyders... God's Gift To Man-Kind

Sugar Glyders... I looked them up on youtube for some reason, and ended up watching this little gem a few minutes later in the dark, in my boxers, in my room, on the phone giving someone a play-by-play.
Notice how the one that "gyldes" seems to immediately regret his decision moments after.

Gaga before she went gaga!

Boiling point. A show that used to be popular on MTV a few years ago that focused on seeing how quickly it could piss someone off, head detached from shoulders and all. Lady Gaga appeared on the show in 2005 and (in my opinion) she knew the whole time.

"I'm Stealin' It"

Planet Earth: It is a grimy place, full of decay and desolation. People are hungry here, they love to eat, and sometimes they go to public venues to try to curb their appetites with something delicious: Enter McDonald's. I had just cashed my check in Walmart, and the McDonald's was in spoken Walmart, therefore it seemed completely rational that my two companions (Matthew, Mark) and I venture into that McDonald's to treat ourselves (I deserved a Big Mac Combo Meal, because on that particular night I thought about attempting to exercise). This is the story of that adventure, this is the story of that paycheck's demise. This is the story. It is long, but it is true...

I walk in the McDonald's and order my food. Thumb through my (in my opinion) loads of cash to find something small enough to give the cashier (Ginger) without breaking anything ridiculous (this always leads me to buying... well I'd buy it anyways). I get my food. Matthew and Mark were right after me, and we sat down and began discussing one of the indolents we have the pleasure of working with. Mid-conversation, I noticed Ginger walking back into McDonald's giving me a terrible look (I could hardly tell however, she had a lazy eye)."She said she didn't understand why good people die all the time and you're still alive", Matthew said referring to the indolent. I rolled my eyes as Matthew continued to inform me that "She [indolent] said she wanted to make a Voodoo doll of you and poke it with needles". "Ridiculous", I thought to myself as I noticed something was terribly wrong with my buttocks (apart from the usual).

No wallet. Frantic, I started to look everywhere that I could possibly have left it. In the bags, in the bags in the trash. In the bags in the trash again. On the table. In my pockets. To the windows, to the wall, on the floor I'm sure I crawled, searching for just some morsel of evidence that my wallet was alright. I asked Ginger if she saw my wallet, and was met with a brisk "no" from her and her ragamuffin co-workers, and was then told to come back in the morning and ask management. "Someone probably just swiped it off the counter", Ginger announced with an ironic amount of certainty. "We'll whatever the case, I'm sure she'll be able to find something since there are camera's right there and there", I said proud of myself for noticing the two camera's facing the counter, and Ginger.

I then go to the Walmart staff, still frantic and searching for answers. They were initially more help to me than the McDonald's staff, and helped me search through the trashcans yet another time to only find trash and ethnic weave. I drive home angry. I drive home upset. First of all, I'm an idiot for leaving the wallet on the counter. This is an obvious understatement that I well understand, but I am still upset. I kept thinking to myself, "What is wrong with the world?" or something of that nature the whole journey home.

I called Matthew, upset - wondering what his brother and he thought about the situation. I told him my newly concocted suspicions of Ginger taking my money and the look she gave me, but they were just suspicions. That night I tossed and turned. I could barely get to sleep because the weight of those bills and missed fast-food lunch and dinner opportunities were weighing heavy on my head and stomach (this was when I was a recovering fatty fatskin). As soon as the aforementioned manager walked through those mustard and ketchup stained doors, I would be there to explain my grievances, and demand retribution.

I gave her a chance. I had ideas that Ginger took my money (you know this). I walked towards the lost and found at Walmart hoping that she would have some sense to turn it in with all of the money intact. "I won't even turn her in" I thought to myself as I hopefully walked toward my destination. I asked. The attendant checked. "I'm sorry sir, we didn't receive any wallets today, leave your number behind and we'll call you if we receive anything within the next week."

The time had now come. I turned towards the Golden Arches, prepared to see the culprit who pilfered my wallet and potential livelihood for the next two weeks. I asked to speak to a manager. Told her of my situation, and she took me back in the back to witness Ginger stealing my wallet off of the counter right as Mark turned around. I witnessed Ginger putting the wallet under the counter. Witnessed her taking the wallet to her car. Witnessed her getting fired. We called the police and I filed a report and turned in the evidence. We couldn't get a hold of her so I was told to wait and I would receive a call within the next 24-48 hours.

No call came. Days later. No call came. I decided to call them. I gave them my case number time and time again to be told that the case was not in the system. Little over a week later, I was informed that the case was rejected, the accused said she did not take the wallet and there was no money in it anyways. I tried to get one of my parent's friends involved (a detective in that department). I got a call, and was asked for the case number. Still no calls since then. Months have now passed.

First of all. The amount of money in the wallet was 450 dollars. For me, that is a lot of money. Second, of course she said she didn't take the money, in case the amazing police force of this city didn't notice, they weren't asking Oprah Winfrey about her favorite things, they were asking a guilty and dishonest thief if she took something that wasn't hers. Obviously they don't have investigators like Sherlock Holmes or Joey Greco from Cheaters on their staff - I'm pretty sure they would've completely rearranged the situation in everyone's favor, especially the victim's. Fourth, police did not do their job. They can pull me over, suspend my license for six months, and charge me hundreds of dollars for going too fast in an automobile quicker than you can say Grey-Goose-on-the-rocks-going-eighty-eight-in-a-fifty-five. When it comes to actually protecting and serving however, they are protecting their wallets and serving my tax money to an inefficient, greed-ran, crime-friendly business that should be ashamed to call themselves law enforcement.

PS. I still want my money.
PSS. I wanted to sue McDonald's but didn't want to put any hindrances in our future together, as I have a very serious idea to someday be a spokesperson for them, much like Justin Timberlake or Ronald McDonald.
PSSS. "F" the Popo, and "F" that Hoho"

Twilightmare

Twilight. We all know about it, and if you don't then you've been hiding under a rock for the last year or so, since commercials and books and movies and even music have been influenced by the said vampire virus. Apparently, even the first-day sales records have been infected, as Twilight (in an attempt to bite as many women as possible - young or old) shreds the competition into tiny pieces with only its venom-coated teeth.

At the local cinema where I live alone, Twilight is responsible for selling out more than 6 auditoriums in just one given day. Not only is this unheard of in our trailer-trash hick town, this is unprecedented anywhere withing a 30 mile radius (if there is another cinema within a 30 mile radius.)

Locally, the midnight showing was almost 800 strong, and the 7:15 show ended up filling two auditoriums and had at least 500. Worldwide, Twilight grossed $26.3 million (setting a record), and on it's opening day Twilight sold $62.2 million (also setting a record). I can't wait to see what happens in regards to records after the first few weeks. Will Twilight finally break Titanic's goliath record? Will I go watch this pop culture phenomenon? Will life EVER be the same?

No More Drama

Some time ago there was a clip on the internet of this prarie dog getting it's drama on. You see the turn and look that the prarie dog gives at around the 0:11 second mark to the 0:15. Now, today I remember seeing the show that it came from, a Japanese show called Hello Morning! I remembered hearing some awful sounds out of one of these Japanese ladies' mouths and laughing so hard it made my car hurt. It's wierd. Morale of the story? Even terrible American television trumps this mess.

Lady Gaga's - The Fame Monster

Lady Gaga. Two words that have become synonymous with a few things: crazy, larger than life, fashion, fame, and most of all, talent. This b!tch has got it. From the release of the first single Bad Romance, it is apparent that Lady Gaga has still got it when it comes to churning out the catchy hooks and outrageous music videos. This eight-song studio album was intended on being an extended release with The Fame, but Gaga decided that this material was good enough to stand on it's own. I happen to agree. Buy it.

Song By Song Analysis:

Bad Romance: Techno riffs, gibberish, a ridiculously catchy hook, and a ever-so intruiging music video with some French sprinkled on top make for an excellent choice in first single off of this album. Even if the catchiest parts of the song are "rara's and romamama's", it's still catchy - not saying that those are the catchiest parts - the whole song is pop genius, and is apparently (according to Gaga herself) about falling in love with a friend.

Alejandro: Interesante. The beat's melodic chirps remind me of an Ace of Base melody. Note, this is not a bad thing, Ace of Base is pretty amazing. However, this song hasn't really stuck to me like some of the other cuts from this album have. I'm definitely sure it will grow though, because when I initially got this cut a few days ago I kept skipping it; As of yesteday though, I kept it in the album's rotation, and appreciated it. I'm starting to like it.

Monster: "Don't call me Gaga." Haha. Something happens when a producer and artist connect. This is proven with Timberlake/Timbaland, or Carey/Dupri, or Asher Roth/Yoel: magic is made, and everyone can hear it. RedOne and Lady Gaga seem to have found that connection. This song is really awesome. It's just another track for me, but I'm sure if someone is going through this situation, they can rock on to this track. I definitely do not skip it. On the 3:25 mark, some amazing production was done. "That boy that boy that boy... is a monster" Makes my ears feel good.

Speechless: I hate comparisons, but the begining of this song reminds me of something that Freddie Mercury would've sung. The whole song has that sort of sound, the sort of sound she utilized for Brown Eyes, a song from her last album. I don't love it, but I think it's nice. Definitely a better attempt at this sound than Brown Eyes, with a better vocal. I would love to hear her do an accoustic of this.
Dance in the Dark: Holy cow, another comparison. The begining of THIS song reminds me of Careless Whisper by Wham!. I wonder if she intended on this connection, since the song is "Dance in the Dark" and the hook of Careless Whisper includes the line, "I never want to dance again". I also can't help but think Gaga is taking advantage of pop culture's obsession with all things Vampire/Werewolf whe she references reverences said myths in this song. Like the song - I don't skip it, but I'm not really feeeeeeling it.

Telephone: First things first: Beyonce is on this track. This track is flipping awesome. Somehow two completely different genre's have melded together to make something sensational (amazing production). Lady Gaga's techno-electronic-pop and Beyonce's i'm-a-bad-b!tch beats will make you shake that thang and feel their irritation at this bug-a-boo who won't quit calling these ladies. Whoever he was that bugged them, we must thank him for being the inspiration for this jam. This is a jam. Jam out to it.

So Happy I Could Die: Is this song about masterbation? Is this song about same-sex crushes? Did I even have to ask that question? Am I reading too much into this and sounding like a pervert? I don't care either way, this beat is sick. The hook is catchy. I just want to see what this crazy lady does with this song video-wise, if it becomes a single (which it should). I really like this song.

Teeth: What is this? It's really different. Makes me think of vampires again. She really wants to see someone's teeth though, so it probably could be Edward Cullen - I could definitely see her trying to become a vampire (if she already isn't). Yup, she just said "vamp" - oh dear. This song is over some sort of gospel-ish beat, and she keeps trying to pull a Christina Aguilera, and though I do not doubt Gaga's vocal chops, no one can do Christina like Christina. Interesting song. Really wierd though.

Love Versus Infatuation

For those who don’t seem to know. Just my opinion.

Infatuation is instant desire, hormonal, and irrational. It is one set of glands calling to another. Love is friendship that has caught fire: It is organic; it takes root and grows one day at a time. Infatuation is marked by feelings of insecurity. You are excited and eager, but not genuinely happy. There are always nagging doubts, unanswered questions, and little bits and pieces about your significant other that you would rather not examine too closely: It might spoil the dream. Love is unconditional; Infatuation has expectations. Love is requited. Infatuation is unbalanced.

Love is the quiet understanding and mature acceptance of imperfection. You love them despite their flaws because they love you despite yours. Love is real. It gives you strength and grows beyond you, to bolster your significant other. You are warmed by their presence, even when they are away. Miles do not separate you. You want them near, but near or far you know they are yours and you can wait. Love is stronger than distance; you both need to live your lives: you are an intricate part of their life. You are not solely their life.

Infatuation says, “You must get married right away. You can't risk losing them." Love says, "Be patient. They are already yours. Plan your future with confidence and security. Love and want the best for them. They deserve it." Infatuation has an element of sexual excitement. Whenever you are in one another's company you are hoping it will end in intimacy. True love waits. You want to experience love with them, not lust. You want the best for them, and would never allow something to get in the way of the future you know they deserve. Love is the maturation of friendship. You must be friends before you can be lovers. Infatuation lacks confidence. When they're away, you wonder if they're cheating. Sometimes you check.

But love means trust. You are calm, secure, and unthreatened. They feel your trust and it makes them even more trustworthy. Infatuation might lead you to do things you'll regret later, but love never will. Love lifts you up. It makes you look up. It makes you think up. It makes you a better person than you were before.

From Corinthians 13
4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, and always perseveres.
8Love never fails.

2012

The end of the world. It's not the most original concept for a movie, but it definitely does work for this attempt. The graphics are nothing short of spectacular. Watching our planet have it's once-every-half-a-million-year PMS fit is definitely more appealing than watching a significant others', even if the first almost guarantees your immediate death.

Is it worth your money? Well that question can only be answered by you. If you like movies of this type (think: The Day After Tommorow, I Am Legend-ish), then you'll probably like this one more; Unless you just like seeing Will Smith save the world again. I know I do - he's pretty much a regulation bad-ass.

Conclusion? [Almost Spoiler Alert] If Will Smith were in this movie the Earth would've been saved, the travesty that is the apocalypse could've definitely been avoided with his powers of... well powers. But it's John Cusack. So everyone dies. Go figure.

"Get it honky!"

This is for real for real. This guy can dance. Everyone should check this out, and attempt immitation of his slick moves stat. Maybe get a laugh or two out of it too. Whoever you are, you'll get something - even if it's being creeped out.

And speaking of the word honky...

The word "honky" originated from the practice of white males wishing to hire African-American prostitutes in the 1920's, and going to the appropriate part of town while honking their car horns to attract the whores. Some versions state that the reason for this was that the white men were too afraid to actually stop in those neighborhoods, so the honking would bring the hookers to them. Others say that since few African-Americans could afford cars back in that time, the honking signaled a higher-paying white client and would quickly gain the prostitutes attention.

There are of course other definitions, but (as far fetched as this one is), it appeals to my inner comedy more, so I decided to post it.

PS. Yes, that means I looked up the word honky before I posted it. Shut your face.

Had any Chelsea lately?

Chelsea Handler. Jersey native comedienne is amazing. Gorgeous, ambitious, and down right hilariass, Chelsea Handler has captured audiences' ears and eyes for a few years now and her top rated late night show, Chelsea Lately (which airs weeknights at 11pm) has featured such high profile names such as Jennifer Anniston and that old bitchy model who still thinks of herself as relevant (can't remember her name).

PS. She also has two books out that you should definitely look into, if you like to laugh.

Word of the Month

Disco Biscuit // [dis-koh bis-kit]

What does it mean?
Back in the glory days of disco and biscuits (the 70’s), the term was used as a colloquial for MDMA or ecstasy.

How can you use it?
Names. People’s names. Band names. Dog’s names. You could probably use it for an alias online, but it’s probably taken because the name just reeks of awesomeness. Shouting it out during height of sexual intercourse would just be hilarious, but then again, who wants to start laughing in the midst of that?

Ex) "Me and my friends went to a karaoke bar and we called ourselves, the Disco Biscuits."

It will immediately get a rise out of anyone who hears it (a good rise, it’s used as another term for ecstasy for God’s sake). Also bonus, if you use the term sparingly yet tastefully, you could get extra points towards your salvation.

“What’s up dumb b!tches?”

… were the first words a New Yorker said to my friends and I upon arrival of the great city, yet they were not the last with profanity. New York City, I’ll say it again. New York City. The largest and probably most important city on this planet is a sight to see – and it is many things, but nice and slow are not some of them. I walked through the streets forgetting to breathe; I wanted to soak in everything. Experiencing New York through all of my overloaded five senses, and then some; I still feel I didn’t get the full taste of her. She is many things, and boring also, is not one of them.

My friends and I took to walking throughout the city, three of us had been there before, and three of us hadn’t – yet it still seemed (with the three that had been to NYC multiple times) that we were just a bunch of hicks in a big city waiting to be raped, or worse: ignored.
We were ignored though, time and time again. My friend J Mezizzle and I put the bait out there for some sort of attention – we are born to be celebrities and NYC (among all of her qualities, an eye for talent isn’t one of them) just held her nose up to us like she could still smell the Griffin stench on our clothes (mind you, the stench should’ve long been gone by then – we had driven 12 hours with a car full of smokers, riders with a tendency to take their shoes off, not to mention we had a lack of manners when it came to biological functions).
Regardless, arrival of the city was amazing. I wanted to live there, and fell in love with her. New York.

First Impression: Fascinating. Rude.

[Stay tuned for next segment]

"A Change is Gonna Come"

Whether the change is beneficial or not is yet to be seen, but today as I was touring the capitol in my tourist bliss, I was hounded by the sound of chants coming from the other side of the capitol. "Clearly this is my moment to make my move into politics", I thought as I barged up the hill. The chanting meant drama, and as I was selected "Most Dramatic" in my senior superlative, (class of 2007) I felt more than qualified to engage in this dramatic activity and gain national attention as a decently handsome, below-average height, southern gentlemen from the trailer trash town of Griffin, Georgia. Oh boy was I wrong.

They were scary. Yelling-red-faced-calling-the-other-side-idiots-at-the-top-of-their-lungs political activists, and I decided I would have no part in it, as I had not eaten that day, my blood sugar was low, and I was yet to become aware of Jessica's stash of low-calorie Glycogen tablets until later that evening when we were on the road, asking any decently dressed caucasion or non-jew directions for the nearest location to eat. (I made that last part up, we didn't ask anyone sh#t, we didn't even think about asking anyone; I didn't even think about telling someone that I thought about asking someone for directions to somewhere until I decided to write this).

What were they chanting about, is probably the question you have next in your mind. It's the question I would have, so I will assume it is the same for you (if not, just keep reading anyways). Mantras of "Kill the Bill" is what I heard, fear immediately gripped me, I thought they were talking about getting rid of the dollar bill (my good -yet often estranged- friend from the dept of treasury), but no, they were talking about a bill, as in the things that get signed into law by our President.

The bill was for health care reform, and the bill passed today in congress. A narrow pass, but a win is a win (a principal I strictly abide by, as I am an avid tic-tac-to-er who believes 2 1/6 X's is a clear victory versus 2 O's)

Whatever you believe, the bill is passed.

These are the changes:

1. Creates a government-run plan, or "public option," to offer insurance coverage to compete with private sector insurance companies.
2. Sets up health insurance "exchanges," or marketplaces, where consumers can easily compare coverage and rates.
3. Requires nearly everyone to obtain health insurance coverage starting in 2013.
4. Ends blanket exemption for insurers from anti-trust laws.
5. Provides federal financial help for lower and middle income consumers so they can obtain coverage.
6. Bars insurers from denying or limiting coverage because of pre-existing conditions.
7. Bars insurers from imposing lifetime limits on coverage.
8. Expands Medicaid coverage to more people.
9. Imposes a 5.4 percent surcharge on adjusted gross incomes of more than $500,000 for individuals and $1 million for joint filers.
10. Imposes penalties on people and businesses who fail to comply with the new law.

PS. I guess it doesn't always take a bitch to get things done. Hilary Clinton, eat your heart out.
PSS. I really took that picture today at the demonstration in Washingdon DC. So everyone else can SUCK IT. SUCK IT HARD.

Mobility

Once upon a time it took
A month or two to call.
On horseback, letters you would send
If you would send at all.
Along then came the telephone
And that eased my frustration.
Except when you were not at home,
Or in a foreign nation.
So why oh why Is it so hard
for me to reach you now?
There's no excuse, no wires used
Our phones are mobile now.

This refers to the annoyance that is: people who do not call you back. We have cell phones people, I know you are busy, we're all busy, but it's not like it takes a lot of brain power to use your cell phone to communicate, hell, the average ten year old girl is highly capable of texting at 345 words per minute on her cell phone - and we all know that dumber-than-possible idiot that rides around town somehow surviving his fits of road-replying.

Rihanna's Second Single!

"Wait Your Turn", Rihanna's second single from her upcoming album, Rated R is lackluster compared to her last attempt ("Russian Roulette") and is boring to say the least. I actually had a problem listening to it the whole way though due to the fact that it seems so repetitive but says so little thoughout its various chants and mantras. What do you think?
PS. You'd think she would have amazing emotional material to draw from after her issue with Chris "I'm a lady hitter" Brown. I'm actually disappointed. I guess nothing good came out of that except for the demise of his annoying career. (I honestly never liked him, his voice especially.)
